Lesson 13. Creating Design Diagrams > Adding new pages with the Section Inspect...

Adding new pages with the Section Inspector

Now you'll use the Section tab of the Section Inspector to add a second level of pages for the customer service section. With this method of creating new pages, the child pages inherit all the properties of the parent page. You also have the option to change the individual page properties for each child page in their respective Page tabs.

1.
Select the Customer Service page.

2.
Click the Section tab of the Section Inspector.

The Section tab in the Section Inspector is where you can change the settings for the child pages if you wish. In this lesson, you'll use the inherited properties.

3.
Type services for the New Filename, and type services for the Folder.

4.
In the Create Pages From section, select the Template option, and choose template_02.html from the pop-up menu.

5.
Enter 3 in the Count field to create three new pages, and click Create New Pages. Notice that the design diagram expands to accommodate the new pages.

Next you'll refine the color of the Customer Service section as you did for the Travel section.

6.
Select the Customer Service page.

7.
In the Graphics tab of the Section Inspector, drag the Fill Color slider to the right to intensify the color and identify the page as the parent of the Customer Service section.

Now you'll identify the first child page of the customer service section as a page containing ordering information.

8.
Select the left-most child page of the Customer Service section.

9.
In the Page tab of the Page Inspector, enter Ordering for Name.

These child pages have inherited the properties of the parent page, even though the Page tab of the Page Inspector doesn't reflect this inheritance. For example, in the design diagram, double-click the page you just named Ordering to open the page. Notice that it has inherited the template template_02.html even though this is not reflected in the Inspector. (Close the page when you have finished viewing it.) When you submit this diagram later in the lesson, you'll see that GoLive has automatically named these pages services.html, services1.html, and services3.html and placed them in the services folder of the Files tab of the site window. (You can check this by opening the Design Diagram.site file in the 15End folder.)

10.
Repeat the steps to name the other two child pages of the Customer Service page, naming the middle page FAQs and the right page About Us.

You may need to rearrange the pages icons so they don't overlap.

You may need to resize the page icons to read their names.

11.
Choose File > Save to save your work.
