Chapter 6. Working with Links > Adding and Editing Anchors

Adding and Editing Anchors

A section anchor (sometimes called a named anchor) is a link to a specific location on a Web page. Whereas regular links point to an entire document, section anchors link to a place in the document. You use section anchors when you want to direct visitors to a specific place within a long page rather than to the top of the page.

Working with anchors has two steps: First, you need to name the part of the page where you want to link, which creates the anchor. Then you need to link to the anchor from another page.
