Chapter 10. Site Administration

Chapter 10. Site Administration

Site administrators manage Contribute Web sites. The administrators do this mainly by controlling who has access to the site and by specifying the editing capabilities of the site’s contributors with Contribute. One or more Contribute users are designated as site administrators, and they use Contribute to perform the administrative duties. Typically, a site designer will use Dreamweaver to create the site and Contribute to manage site access for the content contributors.

As a site administrator, you are responsible for determining which users have editing access to your Web site, deciding the level of editing access (called permissions) of each user, and creating and distributing connection keys to your site’s users. You typically define user roles for your site and assign individual contributors to a role. The permissions you assign to a role determine the nature of the editing access that members of the role have on your site.
