Building New Pages from Dreamweaver Templates

Chances are, many of the pages you’ll create as a content contributor will be based on templates created in Macromedia Dreamweaver. These templates will be created by your site’s designer and will be made available to you by your site’s administrator.

A Dreamweaver template can contain two types of regions. Contribute users cannot modify locked regions. Examples of locked regions on a template might be navigation bars, some page backgrounds, and section titles. Editable regions are containers for content, which could include text or images, which can be changed by the Contribute user. Contribute shows you the editable regions on draft pages, outlined in green, with tabs for the names of each region (Figure 3.15).
