Site-less File Editing

Dreamweaver MX 2004 introduces a new series of commands called Site-less File Editing. What this entails is the following: One can enter the address of an FTP server into Dream weaver using a special dialog box that does not contain any of the other site definition details—this is just a server connection.

After setup, the listing for this FTP server will appear in the Sites drop-down menu on the Files panel (Figure 17.23), so in one step, the server can be connected to at any time. The real bonus is this: You can browse (display the list of folders and open them to get files) the FTP server on the same Local Files panel as the Desktop (Figure 17.24), thereby giving you access to your FTP server, your local machine, and your local network, all at the same time (Figure 17.25).
