Chapter 17. Managing Your Web Sites > Setting Up Remote Site Info

Setting Up Remote Site Info

Remote site information in the Site Definition dialog box tells Dreamweaver how to find and log into a remote Web server. You will be connecting either via FTP or to a local network.

Whether you do your work via a dial-up account or a private local network, it's likely you'll be using FTP (file transfer protocol) as your method of moving files back and forth. Your Web server, whether it's a blog hosting company or a government file server with several levels of security, is very likely an FTP server. Check with your ISP's tech support or with your Web site administrator if you're not sure.
