Chapter 17. Managing Your Web Sites > Synchronizing Modified Files

Synchronizing Modified Files

Dreamweaver can automatically select a batch of newer files in a directory or entire site, so that you can be sure you're not overwriting the latest version of a file during a transfer.

To select newer files

1.
Select the proper local site and connect to the associated remote site.

2.
From the Options menu on the Files panel (Figure 17.70), select Edit > Select Newer Local or Edit > Select Newer Remote (Figure 17.71), depending on where you want the newer files to be selected. Dreamweaver will compare dates and times and select the files that have been most recently edited.

Figure 17.71. The newer files are automatically highlighted on the Files panel—here, I've Selected Newer Remote.

When the comparison is complete, the files that are newer than the ones on the other site will be highlighted (Figure 17.71). After double-checking, you can get, put, or synchronize the selected files.
