Chapter 1. Getting Started > Planning Your Site

Planning Your Site

Creating links between pages in your Web site will be easiest if you first set up a local site.

A Web site is just a collection of files and folders on a computer that's connected to the Internet. When these files are on your local computer, they're called a local site. When they're on a Web server, they're called a remote site. If you set up your files locally in the same way as they'll appear online—using the same folder names and keeping things in the same places—everything will be easy to track.
