Creating Pages Based on Templates

Once you’ve got a template with at least one editable region, you can create pages based on that template.

To create a template page:

1.
From the menu bar, select File > New. The New Document dialog box will appear.

Select the Templates tab. In the Templates For list, select the site you’re working with, and all available templates will appear. Select the name of the template on which you want to base your page (Figure 14.40).

Click Create. The New Document dialog box will close, and a new document window will appear (Figure 14.41), that includes the following elements:

  • The formatting of your template, along with any HTML elements or page properties

  • The editable regions of your template, marked in blue boxes with the name of each region on its tab (Figure 14.42)

  • Any repeating regions on your template, marked in pale blue boxes.
