Editable Region Quirks

Marking editable regions is easy for the most part, but there are several variables you must take into account when incorporating text formatting, tables, and layers.

Block formatting

In order to allow text on template pages to be expanded beyond a single paragraph, you must set editable regions outside block tags such as
,
, <hn>, and so on (Figure 14.13). In some templates created with previous versions of Dreamweaver, this wasn’t an issue, but if you open these in MX, you may find a dialog box like the one in Figure 14.14 advising you to move your
tags to inside the region tags. Oddly enough, placing an editable region inside the and tags brings up a similar error message.
