Forms and Frames

Occasionally, you’ll want to have a form in one frame that triggers an action in another frame. There are a number of ways to do this, but we’ll show you the most common way, which uses JavaScript. The purpose of this basic demonstration is to show how targeting works between the form and the frame.

We’ll make a simple form in one frame, with one text box and a button. When the page is loaded in the browser, the visitor can type a page name in the text box and click the button. Then, the form will load that file into the other frame. For our purposes, we’ll limit the files to the current directory.
