Using Live Data View

Up until now, if we wanted to see the results of the dynamic content on the Web pages we created, we’ve had to upload the pages to a server and preview them in a browser. This may seem like taking two steps back, given that Dreamweaver is supposed to be a WYSIWIG (“What you see is what you get”) editor. Fortunately, Dreamweaver includes a tool that lets you display your pages and include actual data from the server, without uploading and previewing from a browser.

Live Data view allows you to talk to the server continuously, without the browser as an intermediary. Unfortunately, you should only use Live Data view if your server is on your local machine or local network, or if you have a very fast connection, because your system will slow drastically if you have a slow connection to the server. (Forget about it on dial-up connections.)
