Chapter 6. Dynamic Forms > Using Dynamic Text Fields

Using Dynamic Text Fields

Text fields allow users to type input directly into a text box. The basic building block of any form, text fields are an absolute must when you need data that only your user can provide, such as his or her name, address, and telephone number.

Unlike ordinary text fields that are blank when users first view a form, Dynamic Text Fields can be pre-filled with data from a database that users can either modify or leave as is. This comes in handy when you’re providing an update page, for instance, in which the user will be modifying the contents of an existing database record. (Creating update pages is covered in more detail in Chapter 8, Editing Records from Web Interfaces.)
