Chapter 7. Displaying Query Results > Showing Search Navigation Status

Showing Search Navigation Status

If you’ve got multiple records on multiple pages, it’s handy to know exactly how many records and how many pages you’re dealing with. Suppose you’re searching Amazon.com for CDs with the word “Rock” in the title. There may be hundreds of results, displayed on 50 pages, and you may like to know whether you’re near the beginning or the end of the search. The Recordset Navigation Status object creates a status display that provides precisely that information.

Creating a Recordset Navigation Status display:

1.
In the Document window, click to place the insertion point where you’d like the status display to be inserted.

2.
On the Application tab of the Insert panel, click on the Recordset Navigation Status button (Figure 7.13).

Figure 7.13. Click the Recordset Navigation Status object on the Applications tab of the Insert toolbar.

3.
Select the recordset you want to use from the recordset drop-down menu (Figure 7.14).

Figure 7.14. In the Recordset Navigation Status dialog box, specify the recordset.

4.
Click on OK.

A navigation status display will appear in your document at the insertion point.
