About Database Integration

You can think of a database as a virtual filing cabinet filled with information. That information is usually organized in some structured way, such as by customer address information, product details, and ordering histories. The simplest kind of database, called a flat-file database, stores data like a big stack of index cards. Each index card, or record, stands on its own, and no information is shared between records.

Working with dynamic content on the Web, you’ll come across databases with a slightly more complex structure known as relational databases.
