Database Structure

Before you actually create a working database, it’s important to understand the structure that databases have. A useful way to think about the database server is as a series of containers: The server contains a number of databases; each of those databases contains a number of tables; each of those tables contains a number of records; and each of those records contains a number of fields (Figure 3.1). The field is what contains the piece of data.
