About Layout Tables

Dreamweaver uses an innovative tool for drawing page layouts. You draw boxes on your page, and Dreamweaver fills in the HTML for the rest of the page design. These layouts use tables, which Dream weaver calls layout tables when you create or edit them in Layout view.

Layout view and Standard view

To work with layout tables, Dreamweaver uses a different editing paradigm, called Layout view (Figure 12.6). You draw cells on the page the same way you draw text boxes in Quark or image slices in Fireworks.
