About Paragraph Tags

The tag for a paragraph is
. In the old days of hand-coding HTML, people often didn't close paragraphs with a
tag—technically, the
tag doesn't need a closing tag. How ever, the most recent HTML specifications prefer that you surround a paragraph with
and
tags, as Dreamweaver does.

Until the introduction of style sheets, this wasn't an issue anyone worried about; however, style sheets allow you to change the properties of an enclosed tag, and defining the
tag's properties only does any good if you close your paragraphs with the
tag.
