Changing Font Size

There are several ways to indicate font size in HTML. Using style sheets (see Chapter 11), you can set a font size in points, like you do in word-processing and page-layout programs.

Without style sheets, however, you set font sizes relative to a base size. This base size is not something you can fix exactly, because every user has the option of customizing the default font size in their browser program to whatever size they choose. The font sizes that you set will be relative to this default font size, which is usually 12 or 14 points.
