Lesson 13. Using Style Sheets > Linking to an Existing External Style Sheet

Linking to an Existing External Style Sheet

You now have an external style sheet with several style definitions. Because it is external, you can use this file for other documents by linking the style sheet to the file you want the style definitions to be applied to. The style definitions, except for custom styles, will be applied automatically to all documents that are linked to this style sheet. You will need to manually apply any custom styles to paragraphs or selected text.

NOTE

Dreamweaver includes a number of predesigned CSS style sheets you can use in your own Web sites. To use one of these style sheets, choose File > New and select CSS Style Sheets from the Category list on the General tab. Select the style sheet you wish to use from the CSS Style Sheets list and click Create. Use these style sheets as-is, or use them as a starting point to develop your own. The new CSS document will open in Code View. You should save the new CSS document with the .css extension. You can link your documents to it using the steps in this exercise.
