Lesson 1. Dreamweaver MX Basics > Giving Your Page a Title

Giving Your Page a Title

Every HTML document you create needs to have a title. The title is used primarily for document identification. It is displayed in a browser's title bar, indicates the content of a page, and appears as the bookmark name. You should choose a short, informative phrase that describes the document's purpose. Get into the habit of adding a title to each page you create before you add text or graphics to the page. If you forget, Dreamweaver titles the file Untitled Document.

Type Lights of the Coast into the Title text field on the document toolbar. Press Return (Macintosh) or Enter (Windows), or click in the introduction.html document.
