Lesson 1. Dreamweaver MX Basics > Specifying the Default Font Color

Specifying the Default Font Color

When you change the background color or add a background graphic, you might also need to change the color of the text that is displayed. Black text won't display on a black background, for example. When choosing a color scheme for your document, try to select combinations of colors that work well together and have enough contrast between them. Colors that are too similar to each other can be very hard to view, as can complementary colors, especially on a computer screen. In the following steps, you'll change the default font color in the introduction.html document.

1.
Choose Modify > Page Properties.

The Page Properties dialog box appears.

2.
Click the color box for the Text option.

A color palette like the one you used to change the background color pops up.

3.
Select the dark reddish-black color with the hexadecimal code #330000 and click OK.

You can either type the hexadecimal color code into the text field, or you can click to select the color from the swatches. After you click OK, the Page Properties dialog box closes, and you return to your document.
