Lesson 15. Creating Layers > Using the Netscape Resize Layer Fix

Using the Netscape Resize Layer Fix

Netscape 4.x versions have a problem with layers when you resize the browser window: The layer changes its shape when the browser window is resized. This can cause problems with your page when the user resizes the browser window. You can fix the problem by inserting the Resize Layer Fix JavaScript code into your document when you add layers. The code fixes the Netscape problem and will not affect Internet Explorer.

1.
In the layers_table.html document, choose Commands > Add/Remove Netscape Resize Fix.

In the Add/Remove Netscape Resize Fix dialog box that opens, depending on whether or not the script is in the document, you can either add or remove the JavaScript code. The code will cause the page to reload if the user resizes the browser window. Dreamweaver will add this code to your page automatically. If it is not in a page that uses layers, you can add it easily with this dialog box.

2.
Click Remove.

When you convert layers to a table, you should use the Add/Remove Netscape Resize Fix option to remove the JavaScript code you added in the previous exercise, because it is no longer needed.

3.
Save the layers_tables.html document.

You can close this file.
