Lesson 16. Animating with Timelines > On Your Own: Interactive Navigation

On Your Own: Interactive Navigation

You could make the navigation animation that you have created in this lesson a more interactive experience for the visitor by splitting it up into three different timelines. The first timeline would be the movement of the ship to the Black Stripe Lighthouse, and the appearance of the blackText layer. At this point, you would make an additional layer appear that the visitor could click to begin the second leg of the ship's journey that would start the second timeline. You can add a timeline by choosing Modify > Timeline > Add Timeline. Use the Timeline drop-down menu on the Timelines panel to select a timeline if you have multiple timelines for a document. You would need to apply the same Play Timeline behavior that you used in this exercise to start the animation to an object in the additional layer. You might also make the blackText layer disappear at the start of the second timeline. The second timeline would be the movement of the ship to the location of the Red Stripe Lighthouse, and the appearance of the red and redText layers. At this point, you would make an additional layer appear that the visitor could click to begin the third leg of the ship's journey that would start the third timeline. You might also make the redText layer disappear at the start of the third timeline. The third timeline would be the movement of the ship to the location of the White Lighthouse and the appearance of the whiteText layer.

NOTE

Versions of the lighthouse icons with the light on are included in the Lesson_16_Timelines/Images folder with the suffix _on. You can use them to experiment with the animation you've created in this lesson.
