Building a Reusable Page Template

You could fire up a new page and just start designing. In the long run, though, this is not the most efficient way to proceed. Instead, it's much better to create a template that has the standard banner and the standard CSS styles already linked. Setting up templates has two distinct advantages: It speeds up authoring time, and it goes a long way toward ensuring page consistency.

NOTE

Dreamweaver has a template feature, which we are not using here. Throughout this section, when the word “template” is used, it is used in the colloquial sense and does not refer to Dreamweaver templates.
