Getting started

If you have worked through the previous lessons in this book, you have already learned a lot of the principles of site management in GoLive. In this lesson, you'll review these principles and learn how to use some additional tools to resolve common problems such as broken links and orphan files. You'll also add and link files in the Navigation view of a site.

1.
Start Adobe GoLive.

2.
Choose File > Open, and open the gage.site file in Lessons/Lesson14/14End/.

This site contains a number of HTML pages and two folders, animations and images, that contain image files. When you have completed this lesson, your site will look like this.

Gage site window, showing files and folder structure and the pane containing Extras, Errors, FTP, and WebDAV tabs

The right pane of the site window usually contains four tabs: Extras, Errors, FTP, and WebDAV. (The WebDAV tab is displayed if the WebDAV module is selected in the Modules Preferences. To select or deselect the WebDAV module, choose Edit > Preferences > Modules.) The finished site contains no errors and has not been uploaded to an FTP site, so those tabs are empty.

3.
Close the gage.site window. This closes the Web site.
