Getting started

In this lesson you'll create a Web site architecture design diagram for GaiaQuest, an online travel company. An advantage of design diagrams is that you can easily revise them to determine how many sections there should be in a site and how the content is grouped. The design diagram you'll create in this lesson is a revision of an existing diagram. Template and stationery pages have already been created for the site. You'll create a Main page and two subsections, one for Travel and one for Customer Service. You'll create sub-pages for each section, grouping some elements within the subsections. When the design is complete, you'll anchor the index.html page, check the staging for file name errors, and submit or convert the design diagram, making the pages “live” in the Files tab of the project site file.

The design diagrams you'll work on in this lesson are prototypes developed for this lesson. The URL, www.gaiaquest.net and www.cometstudios.net, and their company names, GaiaQuest and Comet Studios, are used with generous permission of Dianne McKenzie and John Halley of Comet Studios and GaiaQuest.
