Chapter 3. Projects and Project Sites > Exporting, Importing, and Taking Snapsh...

Exporting, Importing, and Taking Snapshots of Projects

If you're accustomed to working with Microsoft Project to keep track of project tasks, milestones, and schedules, you'll be grateful to know that you can import and export data between Sitespring and Project. While Sitespring's a great project collaboration tool, it doesn't—nor does it try to—match the project and resource scheduling capabilities of Project (Figures 3.49 and 3.50). By importing project plans already created in Project, you save time and avoid errors by not having to reenter the data in Sitespring. Note, however, that you can only import project information once per project. Conversely, updating your Gantt chart is much easier if you export the Sitespring data rather than reenter each task's status and completion time by hand.
