Chapter 8. Administering Sitespring > Viewing Detailed System Information

Viewing Detailed System Information

If you'd like to view detailed information about Sitespring and its environment, you can access the System Information page, which you can reach from the Administration page. The System Information page lists details such as which build of Sitespring you are running, how much free memory the server has, and other more detailed information about the Java environment on which Sitespring depends. You can read about which version of the Java Virtual Machine the server is running in and what version of the Java language is supported. This can be helpful if you are creating your own project-site templates and writing your own JavaServer Pages (JSP) tags. This information can also be helpful if you're trying to diagnose memory-related problems, as you can easily view how much system memory is available.

To view detailed system information:

1.
Log into Sitespring as the admin user. Only somebody using the administrator account can view the detailed system information.

2.
If you're not already on the Administration page, click the Admin button in the main navigation bar to go there. The Administration page opens.

3.
Click the System Information link toward the bottom of the left-hand column.

The System Information page opens.

4.
The Product Information panel lists Sitespring's version number and build information (Figure 8.69). The Memory Information panel lists the server's free memory and total memory in bytes and the percentage of free memory (Figure 8.70). The System Properties panel lists detailed information about the Java environment in which Sitespring runs (Figure 8.71). Sitespring is based on the JRun application server, another Macromedia product. You can view information about the Java version and the virtual machine version in use.
