Image Formats

Most Web browsers display two image formats: CompuServe GIF (known as simply GIF) and JPEG (also called JPG). Dreamweaver also supports a relatively new image format called PNG.

If you've got digitized images that you want to use in your pages, but they're in a format other than GIF, JPEG, or PNG, you need to use an image-editing program to convert them to the proper format before you can put them on your page. (Generally, you can do this by selecting File > Save As or File > Export from the image editor's menu bar.)
