Linking To or Creating an External Style Sheet

You can also create or link to external style sheets by using the Edit Style Sheet dialog box. You'll add styles to this sheet later.

To create a new style sheet:

1.
Save the page you're working on. You can't save anything else unless you do this.

On the CSS Styles panel, click on Edit Style Sheet (Figure 11.52). The Edit Style sheet dialog box will appear. (Figure 11.53).

Click on Link. The Link External Style Sheet dialog box will appear (Figure 11.54).

Click on Browse (Choose) to select the folder your style sheets are stored in. To attach an existing style sheet, select the file. To create a new style sheet, type a filename for your new file, ending in .css, in the File/URL text box.

Choose a linking method:

  • To use the new file as a linked style sheet, click on Link.

  • To import the styles onto the pages, click on Import.

Click on OK to close the Link External Style Sheet dialog box. In the Edit Style Sheet dialog box, you'll see the name of the new style sheet (Figure 11.55).
