Inserting a Table in Standard View

When you insert a table in this mode, you first choose a starting width and decide how many columns and rows you want to begin with.

To insert a table (Standard View):

1.
Click to place the insertion point where you'd like the table to appear. This can be on a blank page or inside an existing table cell.

From the Document Window menu bar, select Insert > Table.

Click on the Table button on the Objects panel .

Either way, the Insert Table dialog box will appear (Figure 12.9).

Type the number of rows you want in your table in the Rows text box.

Type the number of columns you want in your table in the Columns text box.

5.
Choose a width for your table in either Pixels or Percent.

To set the table width to a percentage of the page width, select Percent from the Width drop-down menu and type a number in the Width text box (Figure 12.10).

To set an exact width, select Pixels from the Width drop-down menu and type a number in the text box (Figure 12.11).

6.
Click on OK to close the Insert Table dialog box. Your new table will appear (Figure 12.12).
