Connecting to Your Server

Before you can download an existing remote site or upload to it, you need to connect to it. Remember that you need to set up your remote info in the Site Definition dialog box first.

To connect to a remote site:

1.
In the Site window, select the site you want to connect to from the Site drop-down menu (Figure 20.11).

Click on the Connect button . Dreamweaver will use your remote host information to connect to the Web server.

A Connecting to [host name] dialog box will appear while Dreamweaver contacts the Web server (Figure 20.12).

4.
When you've successfully connected to the remote server, the Connect button will change to a Disconnect button , and the remote file list will appear (Figure 20.13).

Figure 20.13. You'll know you're connected when Dreamweaver says so. The Connect button will become a Disconnect button. Oh, yeah, and the files will be displayed in the Remote Site pane of the Site window. (They do stay in view after you've disconnected, however.)
