Positioning Properties

Positioning properties can be applied to any object, but when you set these properties, the behavior of the object becomes similar to layer behavior. Dreamweaver then treats it as a layer, although the browsers may respond differently to positioned elements that are not enclosed in <div> or <span> tags.

To apply positioning to objects other than layers, create and apply a style, as described in Chapter 11, using the Positioning properties in the Style Definition dialog box (Figure 14.8). In general, it's easier to create layers individually using the steps detailed in this chapter. Once you have the hang of both layers and style sheets, you can create a style that you can use to create batches of layers.
