Java Applets

Java is an object-oriented programming language based on C++ and developed by Sun Microsystems. The goal of Java is to be as cross-platform as possible. Currently, most Java applets (little applications) are run inline inside a Web browser, although standalone programs—and even operating systems—have been written for Java.

Java applets run on Netscape 2 or later for PCs, Netscape 2.2 or later for the Mac, and Internet Explorer 3 or later for either platform.
