Special Characters

HTML is a language based on plain English text (also called ASCII), in which the characters you see on your keyboard are also the standard characters in the language. There are many other characters, however, that you may need to use on your pages. Special codes, called escape sequences, are used to reproduce these characters. The code for a copyright mark looks like this:
