Chapter 15. Filling Out Forms > Creating a List Box

Creating a List Box

The drop-down menu is one kind of list-type form field you can create; the other kind is the list box. List boxes can be several items high and can offer multiple selections.

To create a list box:

1.
Create a menu, as described in the preceding sections. (You can input the menu items at any point.)

2.
Display the Property inspector by double-clicking the menu object (Figure 15.42).

3.
In the Property inspector, click on the List radio button (Figure 15.43).

4.
To adjust the height of the list, type a number of lines in the Height text box . The menu will change appearance in the Document window (Figure 15.44).

Figure 15.44. I gave the list a line height of 5. Because I have more than five items, scrollbars appear in the list box.

5.
To allow multiple selections, make sure the Selections checkbox is checked. To disallow multiple selections, deselect the Selections checkbox (Figure 15.45).

6.
Name your list by typing a name in the List/Menu text box and pressing Enter (Return).
