Editing Templates

You can edit templates at any time, even after you've attached pages to them. Once you've edited a template, you can then perform an update to reflect your recent edits. For example, if you change the background color on your template from orange to blue, you can automatically change the background on all the pages based on that template, too.

There's a new checkbox in Dreamweaver 4. When you create a new page based on a template or when you attach a page to a template, you use the Select Template dialog box (Figure 18.49). This new checkbox, Update Page When Template Changes, purports to update pages based on this template automatically. In actuality, Dreamweaver still asks you, when you save your changes, whether you want to update the pages.
