    Removing Editable Regions

    You have designated certain areas of the template as editable. You can also set them back to being locked. In locked areas, elements cannot be changed directly on a page that has been created from the template. These elements must be edited in the template itself.

    1.
    In gear.dwt, choose Modify > Templates > Remove Editable Region.

    The Remove Editable Region dialog box opens with a list of all the editable regions in the gear template.

    NOTE

    If gear.dwt is not open, double-click the gear template in the Templates category of the Assets panel. You can use the Assets panel to move, rename, and delete template files. Use caution when deleting template files, as they are not as easily recreated as library items.

    Select buy from the list and click OK.

    That portion of the template is now locked and cannot be changed in files that use the template.

    Any pages that modified the previously editable region are changed when you update the pages after saving the template. The changes are deleted, and that area reverts to the template's content.
