Lesson 11. Using Style Sheets > Creating Custom Styles

Creating Custom Styles

Custom styles give you more specific control over the formatting of your document. You apply custom styles the same way you apply styles in a word processor: by selecting the text and then applying the style. You can apply the style to blocks of text or to individual words within the text. When you create a custom style, you do not have to preselect text as you did in the previous exercise. You only select the text in order to apply the style to it, after the style has been created. Custom styles can be created in either external or internal style sheets.

In this exercise, you are going to make a custom style in the external style sheet that will apply a bold style to any text to which you choose to apply it.
