Importing Text

You can add text to a page by copying and pasting from an existing document. If the text is from an application that supports drag-and-drop copying (Microsoft Word for Macintosh, for example), you can open both Dreamweaver and that application and then copy and paste or drag the text into Dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver can also open files created in word processing or page layout applications, provided that those files were saved as ASCII text files. For example, Dreamweaver can open a Microsoft Word document if you save the file in Microsoft Word as text (.txt) or HTML. Text files (.txt files) always open in code view in Dreamweaver. After you open a text file in Dreamweaver, you can copy and paste the text you need into another file. Alternatively, you can save the text file you opened in Dreamweaver as a new HTML file, but you will need to add the .htm or .html extension when you save the new document.
