Cell Formatting

You can change several options for each cell. You can add background colors to each cell or to the entire table.

You can also control the alignment of objects within each cell of a table horizontally and vertically. The default HTML setting for horizontal alignment in a cell is left. The default HTML setting for vertical alignment in a cell is center. When you draw a cell in layout view, Dreamweaver changes the vertical alignment to top, but you can change that option easily.

1.
In the layout.htm document, select the cell in which you just added the caption for the rafting picture. Click the Bg color box in the property inspector, and use the eyedropper to select the yellow color in the raft.

The color of the cell changes to the selected color. To change the background color of the entire table, select the table by clicking the Layout Table tab or any of the gray areas. Click the Bg color box and choose a color for the table.

2.
Choose Center from the Horz drop-down menu in the property inspector.

This step changes the alignment of the text in the cell to center.

3.
Change the Vert setting to Middle.

This step centers the text vertically in the cell.
