Lesson 3. Creating Links > Creating Graphic Links

Creating Graphic Links

You can also use images to link to documents and sites other than your own. This exercise shows you how to create an external link. You can use the same techniques you used in the preceding exercise to link images to files on your site.

1.
In the welcome.htm document, click the graphic at the bottom of the page to select it and type http://www.australia.com in the property inspector's Link text box.

You must type the complete URL.

This link is an absolute path. An absolute path provides the complete URL of the linked document. You must use an absolute path to link to a document that is located in a Web site other than your own.

TIP

If the URL is long or complex, you can go to that site in your browser, copy the URL, and then paste it into the Link text box.

2.
Save the file and preview it in the browser.

Notice that when you roll over the graphic at the bottom of the page, you see that it is linked. The link location appears in your browser's status bar.
