Lesson 9. Creating Frames > Creating a Frameset

Creating a Frameset

A frameset defines the overall look of the framed page—the number of frame areas on the page, the size of each frame, and the border attributes. In the first part of this lesson, you will create a Web page consisting of two frames. The left frame will hold navigation elements that remain constant. The right frame will display pages whose content is relative to the links clicked in the navigation frame.

There are two ways to create a frameset in Dreamweaver: You can manually insert the frames, or you can choose from several predefined framesets. If you choose a predefined frameset, the frameset and frames are automatically set up for you. It is a quick way to create a layout using frames because most of the work is done for you. You just need to name the individual pages.
