Lesson 13. Creating Forms

Lesson 13. Creating Forms

Forms are a way to gather information from people who visit your Web site. Forms allow you to ask visitors for specific information or give them an opportunity to send feedback, questions, or requests to you. Common uses of forms include polls, e-commerce, feedback, and registration. A form contains fields in which users enter information. These fields can be text fields, radio buttons, checkboxes, menus, or lists.

Form data is usually sent to a database on a server or to an e-mail address. Data sent by a form is a continuous string of text from the information typed by the user. The data is usually processed by a CGI (Common Gateway Interface) script. CGI is a standard protocol that acts as the communication link between the data from the form and the server. Dreamweaver does not create or edit CGI scripts. You will need to talk to your Web administrator to get information about what CGI scripts your server uses.

In this project, you will build a form with various text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, submit and reset buttons, and a menu.
