Lesson 14. Animating with Timelines > Changing the Visibility of a Layer

Changing the Visibility of a Layer

Timelines allow you to do more than simply moving layers. You can also use timelines to change the visibility of a layer. For example, you might want a layer to be displayed only after another layer animates across the screen. The initial state of the second layer would be hidden and would then become visible at a certain frame.

In this exercise, you will create four layers with graphics in each. Three of the layers will be hidden until the fourth layer, an arrow, animates and points to the others. The arrow layer will move to reveal each layer one by one. The show.htm file in the Lesson_14_Timelines/Completed folder demonstrates the effect.
