Chapter 5. Site Content > Food for Thought

Food for Thought

Now it's time to give this chapter some real thought. Here are a few suggestions to get the juices flowing. To share your thoughts with other site visitors or see what they had to say about this chapter's topics, be sure to visit the book's companion Web site at http://www.smallbusinessonweb.com/.

  • Make a list of the information you think you want to include on your site. Then number each item by importance, with #1 being the most important. Where do you think the top three items should appear on your site?

  • If you expect your site to be more than 3 pages, build an outline of the site's contents. Or chart the contents using an organization-chart format. Remember to build a logical flow of information; this can be used for the actual organization of your site.

  • Use your Web browser to visit at least ten Web sites for companies like yours. (Search engines or professional directories can help you find them.) Make a list of all the questions the site left unanswered. This is the content that was missing from the site.
