Creating head actions

Head actions are special premade scripts inserted into the header of a Web page. Some automatically run just before or after the viewer opens the page in a Web browser. Others are "on call" and only run in response to something the viewer has done; for example, clicking a link or image. You'll insert several head actions into the page for this lesson. The first three actions are among the most common Web designers find necessary to implement in a site.

Creating a browser switch action

Visitors using older Web browsers may not see a Web page correctly if it contains features and technology such as JavaScript, frames, floating boxes, or tables. It's important to provide a way for those viewers to see an alternative page when they view your Web site. A browser switch action automatically takes viewers with older browsers to any page you designate, even if it's only a page saying that your site doesn't support their browser.
