Lesson 13. Managing Web Sites > Importing an existing site into Adobe GoLive

Importing an existing site into Adobe GoLive

You will now work with the files in the Start folder, which contains a site called Gage, which was created in another application. Your first task is to import the site into Adobe GoLive.

1.
Choose File >New Site > Import from Folder. Click the top Browse button and navigate to the 13Start folder. Select the Gage folder. This is the Web site that you will import into Adobe GoLive.

2.
Click OK (Windows) or Choose "Gage" (Mac OS). The path to the folder is entered into the top text box of the Import Site Folder dialog box.

Because the site already has an Index.html page, Adobe GoLive recognizes this as the home page and automatically enters it into the bottom text box. If the Index.html page was missing, you would need to browse for the site's home page.

Note

If a site folder is visible on your desktop, you can drag it straight to the top text box of the Import Site Folder dialog box.

3.
Click Import.

The Web site is imported into Adobe GoLive, showing all its folders, files, and other site objects.

4.
Name the file Gage.site when prompted, and save it in the 13Start folder. (Be careful not to save it in the 13End folder.)

For information on creating a Web site from scratch in Adobe GoLive, see "Creating a new Web site".
