MIAW management basics

Leaping from one movie to the next is all very well and good, but the real power of multiple movie management comes when you have several movies open at once—Movies in a Window, or MIAWs.

With MIAWs, one movie remains open at all times; we'll call it the root movie. Other movies (or more correctly, the windows containing other movies) can be opened and closed using Lingo commands; we'll call these the window movies. Each window movie can be completely interactive, which means you can click buttons in the window, and the movie will respond. What's more, instructions and other information can be passed from one movie to another; what happens in a window movie can affect the root movie, and vice versa.
